Q 1   What do you mean by HTTP ? . Explain
Ans .      HTTP is the short form of Hyper text transfer protocol. It is a standard    
communication protocol .
              
It is the set of rules that governs the transfer of hypertext between two or more computers.
In fact , it governs the transfer of information between a web browser and a web server.  It enables transfer of file on the internet that may include text, graphics, images, sound , video and other multimedia file on the World Wide Web.

computer on the World Wide Web use the Hyper Text Transfer protocol to talk with each other. The HTTP provides a set of instruction for accurate information exchange

Usually HTTP takes place through TCP / IP  sockets.  An HTTP  client initiates a request by establishing a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)  connection to a particular port on a server . An HTTP  server listening on that port waits for a client,s request message . Upon 
receiving the request , the server send back a status line and a message. The body of this message is typically the requested resource.
            

Q 2 What is web page?

Ans. Information on the web is displayed in the form of pages.

Earlier thesee pages were written in HTML which describes 

how the information should be displayed regardless of the browser used.

These pages also include hypertext links allowing users to jump to related 

information. These pages are called web pages. A document on the web is called a web page. It many contain text, graphic, animation, sound or video.

Q 3 What is web Site? 

 Ans. A web site is a collection of refer of related web pages with a

common web address. A website is a collection of hyperlinked

web pages, developed and maintained by a company, organization,

government body, university or an individual.

Q 4 Who Governs the Internet?

Ans   Internet is not owned by individual or organization. It is 

governed by a number of authorities. The final authority of

Internet rests with the Internet Society [ISOC] which is promotes 

global interchange of information.Another authority is IAB [Internet Archit Board].

It is a group  of invited volunteers. The IAB sets the standards and Internet address. The Internet Engineering Task Force [IETF] is an international working group, which set the 

standards for software protocol that let computers communicate to one another on the Internet.

Q 5 What is Internet explorer?

Ans. Internet Explorer is a web browser, which helps to open the web pages on 

the Internet . It is developed by Microsoft, which ships free with all version of 

Window operating system. It can be download from the Microsoft Web site; http ;/ / www .microsoft . com without any change. With Internet Explorer and an Internet connection one can search for and view information on the world wide Web. Internet 

 Q. 6 What do you mean by WWW ? Example

Ans World Wide Web (WWW) is a set of protocols that allows to access any document on the Internet through the naming system based on Uniform resource location . It is a mechanism that links together information stored on many computers

 

Q.7  What are the main elements of WWW?

Ans   Web server , who Browser ,Web site, hypertext & Hypermedia , Hyperlink transfer protocol  (HTTP), Hyper text markup language (HTML), search Engines . Addressing schemes ( DNS) are the main elements of WWW. 

Q . 8  What is the difference between a web page and a web site?

Ans  . In WWW , every information is stored in the form of special document called web . Web page combine text, picture , animations, sound and video in a single document Server related Web pages are linked together to form a web site.Thus a web site can contain a number of web pages .

Q .9  Define URI , URL AND URN?

Ans .  URI (Uniform resource Identifier ): It identifies an object on the internet .

 

           URL (Uniform resource Locator): It is an address on the World Wide Web . It is a specification for indentifying an object such as a file , newsgroup , CGI program or e -mail address by indicating the exact location on the internet

URN ( Uniform resource Name ): It is a method for referencing an object without declaring the full path to the object

Q . 10 Differentiate between Static Web page and Dynamic Web page. 

Ans  Static Web page 

(1) A static web page is written in HTML

(2) It is simple to develop .

(3) It requires less time to develop .

(4) Web server is not required 

Dynamic Web page

 

(1) A dynamic web page consists of complex code using PHP or  ASP.

(2) It is difficult to develop .

(3) It requires more time to develop.

(4) Web server is required for output
